Appearance: Tall, slender and strict looking. Always wears her square spectacles which she sometimes pushes down her nose so that she may give offenders a look. She gives off the impression of someone who should not be crossed. Prefers wearing robes, but will wear Muggle clothes if forced to go to Muggle areas. Her favorite colour is green, except during Quidditch matches where she strives to wear the Gryffindor colours. Appearence as Animagi:  Family: Eldest child of Fergus and Moira McGonagall (Fergus deceased, Moira still alive), with two younger brothers, Fergus Jr and Jupiter. Divorced, no children. Friends/Allies: Her closest friends are Albus Dumbledore, Hagrid, Sprout and Hooch. Allies are the other professors in general and the Order of the Phoenix specifically. She expects Hogwarts rules to be followed and will strike down on those who fail to follow these rules no matter who they are. She has a warm heart though and will at times let it rule her decisions. Cannot abide injustice and has quite the sharp tongue. (The scene in OotP (book) where Umbridge questions her during her Transfiguration lesson tells a lot about her. I love her in that scene :D) Strengths: Transfiguration, Charms, DADA, and her intelligence. She's not named after the Roman goddess of wisdom for nothing. She has a sharp wit and an even sharper tongue. Weaknesses: Her temper and a streak of sentimentality. She frowns upon the "weaker" sort of Magic, such as Divination which she absolutely does not believe in, even though she has seen proof that it sometimes can be real and useful. Likes: Having her morning tea in peace before breakfast in the Great Hall, reading in front of the fireplace in her favourite armchair, watching quidditch, teaching, strolling around in the evening in her Animagi form of a cat. Dislikes: Lazy students, Divination, incompetent teachers, rule-breaking and frivolous behaviour. Habits: Is an early riser. Needs her morning cup of tea while waking up and will indulge in a bit of cake along with her evening tea. At times she has a bit of fun transforming into a cat and patrolling the corridors in the evening, some times catching students out of bounds. History: She was born and grew up in a loving family in Edinburgh, Scotland. Her father tutored wizarding children before they were sent off to Hogwarts so she got her desire to teach from an early age as she took to helping her father with the younger children. At Hogwarts she was sorted into Gryffindor and quickly found herself at home there even playing Quidditch for the House team as Chaser. Prefect by her fifth year. After graduating she did some traveling around the world and met her husband. She was married at the age of twenty, a marriage which lasted two years at which point they split up. They were later divorced and he remarried. She has never since then had the inclination to marry, far preferring her freedom to the confinements of the life of a dutiful wife. She was faced with the usual "Whatever are you going to do now without a husband?" Which incensed her to no end. Determined to prove that a woman can do whatever a man can, she set out to fullfill an old dream of hers - to become Animagus. She was successfull and dutifully registered her success with the Ministry. Because - what was the point of haven proven herself if she couldn't announce it... She took up tutoring wizarding children like her father until December 1956. Headmaster Dippet had passed away, Professor of Transfiguration, Albus Dumbledore became new Headmaster and a new Professor was needed. She applied and got the position along with becoming head of Gryffindor House. She is a well respected Professor, although feared by some for her temper and she will at all times let Hogwarts, its students and professors come before anything else.
